CHI (Qi or Ki):
A Chinese/Japanese word loosely translated as electromagnetic energy. It creates matter and is the source of all movement in the body.
Meridian:
An energetic pathway through which "chi" circulates the superficial fascia of the body. These channels are mapped out on the surface of the body using acupoints. Meridians carries out specific functions in the body that are related to particular organs.
Acupoint:
An energetic point established along a meridian.
Acupressure:
An ancient Chinese form of meridian therapy that applies pressure to classical acupoints, using thumbs, elbows, knuckles, or palms.
Shiatsu:
A Japanese word meaning, "finger pressure". A form of acupressure that includes assessment of points and meridians. Varied pressure is applied to the meridians to promote energetic balance in the body.
